Spring Fashion Faux Pas

What to wear to a graduation

Caps, gowns, tasssels.. We've all worn these at least once in our lives. Graduation ceremonies are a very special rite of passage, especially for those graduating from high school or college. But one of the nicest things we can do to show our support is by putting some effort into our appearance during these occasions.

There can be many extremes when it comes to "dressing up" - dads in Hawaiian shirts and flip flops, moms in mini-skirts, siblings in multi-colored hair, and the list goes on.

When we come dressed appropriately for the occasion, it shows others that we are here for them. Our efforts to look nice is a way to acknowledge that person's accomplishments, and tells them that we actually care. Just think of what message we are sending across when we are not dressed the part: it would be the same as if a college grad walked across the stage in their bathing suit - or Spongebob costume for that matter.

So during these weeks of fancy ceremonies, backyard barbeques, and dinner celebrations, let's think about how we can dress in a way that honors the person we are celebrating.
