Blue Dress & Thrifted Purse

 Currently re-mixing:

I just love dresses! They are really the most easy thing a girl can put on, and they always make you feel so feminine. The pattern on this one is so darling - I think they are little mustaches or upside down flowers. (?) Oh, and the purse was a steal. Got it at the Salvation Army while Kyle and I were looking for a used washing machine. (And yes, those handy disinfectant wipes that I use on everything, totally went into town on this one.) Total cost of the purse? $4, baby!

Kyle and I took some shots while visiting one of our favorite spots in downtown Monrovia. It was a beautiful day full of sun, and a lovely view of the mountains (with snow on them!) Yes, snow in April! These are the days that you're glad you wore your tights; mine are a sheer red, and I love wearing them in cool and warm weather.

Spring Clean

Hello Friends!

I just moved to a new apartment this weekend. Much closer to work and more of an opportunity to build our savings. Super excited! It's funny how moving is one of those experiences that force you to look at the items you own and make a judgement call as to its level of necessity or importance. Luckily, we didn't have too many things that needed to be tossed, but it got me thinking about the concept of downsizing. My closet now has plenty more space to fill with clothes, but I made a promise to myself that I will not clutter it with things I don't need.

Spring is here and it is the perfect opportunity to do some

S*P*R*I*N*G C*L*E*A*N*I*N*G*!!!!!

When was the last time you inspected your closets and got rid of those space-wasters?
Let me tell you, it is a freeing experience.

Here are some tips for organizing your closets:

- Be realistic! Don't keep clothes that you aren't really and TRULY going to wear. This requires a little bit of honesty, but I promise it won't hurt.

- Make 3 piles: KEEP, DONATE, and TRASH
The 'keep' pile are the items that will go straight back in your closet, the 'donate' pile will be given to charity (or your friends!), and the 'trash' pile, well, say goodbye forever!

- If you are iffy about certain items, put them away where you can't see them, and pull them out again when you want to wear them. If 6 months go by and you still have not pulled them out, then it is probably a sure sign that they can go.

Lastly, try practicing a detached attitude towards your clothes. Clothes are just clothes, shoes are just shoes, bags are just bags. We can get in the habit of treating these items like they are necessary for survival - like food. The reality is, the more we feel like we can't live without them, the more they are actually controlling us. So let's not hesitate to free our closets of junk. Let's lighten our shoulders a bit.
